Note: When setting up the CardPointe Unattended card reader for the first time, the device will take approximately 15-20 minutes to to download and install necessary updates before it can be used to process transactions.
Overview
CardPointe Unattended extends CardPointe Integrated Payments to kiosks and self-service applications, combining CardSecure's PCI-validated P2PE security with a robust unattended card reader device and simple API integrations powered by the CardPointe Gateway.

CardPointe Unattended Components
The CardPointe Unattended solution includes an API integration to the CardPointe Unattended device to send commands (for example, to initiate a payment) and receive reponses. Additionally, integrate the CardPointe Gateway API for additional transaction management features, and to leverage secure stored profiles.
Software Components
The CardPointe Unattended solution includes the following software components:
- Payment Application Engine - The Payment Application Engine (PAE) provides the interface between your client application and the unattended device. Your application sends commands to the device via Serial/USB to initiate the card reader and securely capture the card data.
- Web Payment Application - The web payment application retrieves the encrypted card data from the device and initiates an authorization request to the CardPointe Gateway, via HTTP/Ethernet.
- App Loader - The app loader runs on the unattended device to check for and automatically download and install updates to the firmware, PAE, and SDK installed on the device.
- CardPointe Gateway API - The CardPointe Gateway API provides methods for managing and reporting on your transactions. Your application uses the CardPointe Gateway API to void, refund, or check the status of a transaction.

Hardware Components

- Unattended Card Reader - The Unattended card reader device (IDTech VP5300) accepts EMV (chip) and MSR (magnetic stripe) payments, and connects via serial/USB to the host system and your client application.
- Contactless Antenna - The contacless antenna adds support for contactless (NFC) pyments via mobile wallets and contactless-enabled credit cards.
