Upgrading Your Terminals

To upgrade your terminals, contact your Account Manager to get started.

The upgrade can take approximately 20 minutes or longer (depending on your network speed), and you will not be able to use your terminal during the upgrade process. We strongly recommend scheduling the upgrade during your terminal's nightly reboot window to minimize downtime for your business.

Your terminal must be running version 1.6.5.3 or higher to upgrade to version 2.0.

Upgrade Process Overview

  1. The terminal restarts at the configured nightly restart time.

  2. The terminal retrieves the update package and begins to install the update.

  3. The terminal displays "Updating Software, Please Wait..." and an updating progress bar that shows the percentage complete.

  4. Once the update process reaches 100%, the terminal displays "Forcing Terminal Reset" and the terminal restarts automatically.

  5. The terminal displays "Configuration Initiating Terminal Reboot" and restarts again.

  6. The terminal flashes "STARTING UPGRADE" and then displays the 2.0.0 update download progress.

  7. After the download is complete, the terminal displays "Validating Checksum" and a progress bar, while it validates the upgrade package.

  8. The terminal flashes "STARTING UPGRADE" and several "Applying Update" screens as the updated software is installed and activated.

  9. After the software is activated, the terminal displays "Software Update Initiating Terminal Reboot" and restarts.

  10. The terminal displays "Configuration Initiating Terminal Reboot" and restarts again.

  11. The terminal connects to the CardPointe Integrated Terminal service and is ready for use.

After the upgrade is complete, we strongly recommend that you perform regression tests to ensure that the terminal is functioning properly. Contact support at 877-828-0720 if you experience any issues with the upgrade.

Accessing the New Admin Menu

Version 2.0 of the CardPointe Integrated Terminal Application includes a password-protected admin menu with a default password of CCMerchant. Accessing the menu is accomplished by pressing the F or + key on the terminal and entering the password using the number pad, as described below.

Entering Text Using the Multi-Tap Method

Each number key also represents a set of letters that can be entered with that key, if pressed more than once. The first key press will enter the number, while pressing the key multiple times will enter one of the letters associated with that number key. For example, to enter the capital letter C, press the 2 key on the terminal 7 times.

Accessing the Admin Menu

To access the admin menu, perform the following steps:

    1. Press F (or + for the iSC Touch 250) and enter the default password of CCMerchant using the number pad as described above.

    2. Press O (green button) to confirm the password and access the Admin Menu.

    Changing the Default Password

Access the admin menu as described above, and then perform the following steps to set a new password:

      1. Scroll down to Change Menu Password and press O (green button).

      2. Enter the new password using the number pad and press O (green button) when finished.

Exercise caution when changing the password. If you change the password, be sure to note the new password and keep it in a safe location.

This password cannot be reset remotely; If you forget or lose the password, you will no longer be able to access the Admin menu, and your terminal will need to be replaced.

      Rebooting the Terminal

To reboot (power cycle) the terminal, perform the following steps:

        1. Access the Admin Menu.

        2. Scroll down to Reset Terminal and press O (green button) to reboot the terminal.

        Customizing the Beep Settings

For testing purposes, you can view and modify these settings from the devices’ Admin Menu; however, any changes made on the device will be overwritten the next time the device reconnects (between 2am-3am EST daily). Once the desired settings are determined, you can contact CardPointe support or your POC to update the terminal setting internally.
